Sport @ Maybury

We believe that Physical Education and sport have a vital role to play in the physical, social, emotional and intellectual development of children. At Maybury, we offer a wide variety of sporting activities that go beyond the timetabled curriculum PE lessons.

Maybury Athletics Championships

At the beginning of the Autumn Term, children from Years 1 to 6 took part in the Maybury Athletics Championships.  Children in each year group competed in four different races including: sprint, hurdles, egg and spoon and obstacle race.

The children who came in the top two for their year group sprint race, then entered a Champions Race, from which we awarded the fastest sprinter for Year 1 and 2; Year 3 and 4 and Year 5 and 6.

These children will remain the champions until the next Athletics Championships which will take place in September 2024.

Sporting Teams

There are a range of extra-curricular sports clubs where children are able to develop skills further play in order to play in a competitive team to represent the school. Maybury Primary School is part of the Hull Active Schools community where children are invited to attend competitive sporting events within the local area.

Current opportunities include: mixed football, girls' football, boys' football and netball.
